not mine. i know i'm supposed to only want good thing for ryan and i do but i'm not worried, he's going to kill it. maybe he will be sent up to the big show in november but i'm only human and after covering politics for years, sometimes a girl just wants a long, slow, deep, soft, wet kiss that lasts three days. so come on joe crash biden, this might be your last chance to do it your way. show me and meat how it's done in the bigs. go out with a bang. martin, it's all yours. >> i'm not sure we could take much more of that s.e., but thank you so much. good afternoon. it's tuesday, october 9th, and this race is tighter than a snare drum, so let's hit it. >>> four weeks to go. >> iowa is going to help elect me the next president of the united states. >> that's what's at stake in the next 29 days. that's why i'm running for a second term as president. >> four weeks to set the record straight. >> suddenly a guy pretending to be mitt romney stood on a stage next to me. what $5 trillion tax cut? i don't know anything about a $5 trillion tax cut. >> we are going to win this. we're taking

ryan was there. he made some points. you know, i mean he did the things that i think republicans wanted him to do, not back down, look like he was credible, could be the vice president of the united states. biden was this huge figure for good or bad depending on your perspective. i think he would have won the debate andrea on points, narrowly, had he just controlled a little bit more his off camera reaction. the two of you spend more time on television than i do but we all spend some amount of time on television. the camera can be on you when you're not talking. joe biden has been in politics and he knows that. to quote spinal tap turned the amplifier up to 11 when like 8 would have probably done the laughing and the kind of open disdain for paul ryan and paul ryan would be talking and you could in the split screen he would mouth that's not true. the democratic base loved it. but i thought he was a little too hot. >> stopped the hemorrhaging, fired the base. don't know what impact is on undecided voters. there were some serious policy points. he absolutely threw the state department and
this week. >>> later today paul ryan wrapped up a campaign rally just a few short hours ago. he echoed a theme we heard in the debate friday night. >> the president had his chance. he had his choices. he came in with one-party rule. able to do everything on his own choosing. and just look at where we are now. 23 million americans are struggling for work today. in fact, since the president was elected, for every worker added, ten left the labor force. >> mitt romney is also campaigning in ohio today. he'll be making stops in portsmouth and lebanon later this afternoon. >>> today president obama is taking a short trip to virginia to get ready for the next debate with mitt romney. nbc's mike viqueira is joining me live from the white house. a good saturday to you, my friend. are we getting a sense of how the president plans to approach this next debate? >> reporter: it's very interesting. the white house is normally tight-lipped about what the president is doing when we don't see him in public. they're extremely tight-lipped about the prep that he's going through this time. not in nevada
for both campaigns. i think that vice president biden will do well. i think that paul ryan will do well also. but i think that the issue here is you have to remember whether for mitt romney's own gaffes or whether the media built up president obama's some figure who is going to do extremely well in this campaign and wipe the floor with mitt romney, it already set the bar so high for president obama he fell very flat. didn't come close to the bar. we have an issue paul ryan is thought to be this wonky nerd and when he comes out, if he can perform even half as well as mitt romney, they are overestimated or underestimating congressman ryan, i would say if they think he will come out and just throw out a bunch of numbers and stats and not put any hard or skin in the game so to speak. he has won a congressional district because he can relate to people. i think we are going to see some of that behavior if that debate tomorrow night. >> there were critics from the female side of the aisle that there was no conversation, no debate, between mitt romney and president obama about a woman's right t
to be great. if nothing else i guarantee you it will be very entertaining to watch joe biden and paul ryan. and there again, i think there is an opportunity to -- i think romney's gotten some deserved momentum out of -- he had a very strong performance. he's gotten a momentum. i think his campaign is trying to figure out how to keep that momentum going into next week. the debate might be where that momentum is blunted a little bit. joe biden is going to say look, paul, how much time do you need? here's a white board. here's a pen. how much time do you need to do the math? we're here for you. let's work it out. >> hey rich, how much in terms of paul ryan, how much do you think is resting on his shoulders? how do you think he's going to fare against joe biden? he's a lot younger, doesn't have as much debate experience. >> that's not true. they're both members of congress. they have a lot of debate -- that's what you do in congress whether it's in committee or on the floor. i think they will both be more skilled, frankly, than either of the two presidential candidates who did not have that ki
four years, or do they want pa romney and ryan ticket who will bring in pro-growth policies that will bring in jobs for our country? >> thank you so much for being with us. >> my pleasure. >>> the picture at the gas pump keeps gets worse for drivers in california. >>> but first, after mitt romney's attack on big bird this week, the mega-sized muppet has been popping up in some surprising places this weekend. we'll show you, next. you're watching msnbc. with the spark cash card from capital one, sven's home security gets the most rewards of any small business credit card! how does this thing work? oh, i like it!
